Miracle Drug

So in case you haven’t heard Britney Spears little sister is pregnant, oh and this French Model is claiming to have had an affair with Tony Parker…oh and Dan Haren got traded.
The A’s have now finally turned the corner and taken the next step to becoming a contender…in 2010. Well I think we can all agree that Danny was a phenomenal pitcher and a real class act which explains why there was such a huge market for him. In the end Arizona stepped up and now have what might turn out to be the best pitching duo in baseball with Brandon Webb and now Dan Haren. This trade has been discussed ad nauseam so at this point I’ll refrain from giving my opinion on the trade again, and instead discuss the recent Mitchell investigation.
Congratulations Major league Baseball you struck gold by hiring former Senator George Mitchell to head the investigation. As a fan I could not be happier to see Roger Clemens named in the report. For those who remember, we discussed Roger Clemens possibly using steroids on our very first episode. I am pleased to reintroduce the topic, and even more pleased to see those who still vote for Clemens to make the HOF in polls and message boards. Let me get this straight, Barry Bonds
gets vilified like a convicted child abuser, but people don’t want to rush to judgment or punish Roger Clemens? Listening to a hypocrite ramble on with his jargon is as bad listening to a K-Fed holiday CD.
How can these idiots defend Roger Clemens “cheating the game” but not Barry Bonds? Both men are regarded as the best at their positions during their era, and both have the individual hardware to prove it, so how do they differ?

It’s simple, Barry Bonds is hated and Roger Clemens is not. There an array of reasons people subscribe to this belief but if having a good personality is a prerequisite to being in the Hall of Fame then I expect to see Ty Cobb removed. However, if
you are like me and could really care less about how nice a guy is that i will never meet, then you shouldn’t care. Bonds is in no way obligated to be endearing to the fans and the media, he is paid to entertain society, and i would venture to say that he does a pretty job of that. With that said, for some reason Roger Clemens is held in high esteem. From a personality standpoint I can’t see one redeeming quality about Roger Clemens, but then again I could care less. So if we ignore personalities, what is the difference between Roger Clemens HOF resume and Barry Bonds?
It’s certainly plausible and likely both used performance enhancing drugs, but is there any evidence to prove this? So again I ask the ingenuous hypocrite why is Barry Bonds public enemy number one and not Roger Clemens? Until ‘fans’ finally wrap their hands around the fact that these two men are one in the same, the game and the HOF will be tarnished.
In terms of our A’s, Jack Cust was named in the report. Can we please just move on and admit that baseball would not be half as popular as it currently is without steroids. Baseball dropped the ball with the 1994 strike, but it rejuvenated the game when performance enhancing drugs became more prevalent in the game. With that said, is there any worse HOF committee in sports than baseball? How does a guy with 287 career wins not end up in the hall of fame, please put Bert Blyleven in the Hall. How is a “clean” guy with 493 career home runs not considered a HOF by baseball pundits and fans, please put Fred McGriff in the Hall in 2009.

Finally and most importantly, how was a truly remarkable baseball player, ambassador, and influential man like Buck O’Neil not elected into the Hall of Fame before his death. It’s disgusting for those voters to say that Buck wasn’t “worthy” of being inducted but that J.L. Wilkinson the owner of the Kansas City Monarchs was. Embarassing, that is the word that comes to my mind when someone mentions the Hall of Fame voters. Have a safe holiday season, this truly is the “most wonderful time of the year” so enjoy it with your friends and loved ones. Thanks again this has been Charles, go A’s!
